The Monkey is TWO!

Mackenna's 2nd Birthday party theme was, of course, Monkeys!! The invites were picture of her in her monkey halloween outfit with our jungle in the background inviting people to her jungle.

We played "5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed". We had 17 kids there, doesn't look like it in this picture! With two of our families having 5 kids each it doesn't take long to add up quickly!

Call it a confession but we are finally saying bye bye to the bottle....yes.... she is TWO and she was taking a bottle before nap and nigh nigh... see ya... on to the transition drug of choice the sippy cup... and then hopefully just a 'sweet dreams sweet Mackenna.  Here's to hoping....and making room for a bunch of new stuff in the bottle drawer.

I don't want to get ahead of myself....

....but we hauled out the training pants! Actually to be more accurate I soothed my 'my baby went pee pee in the potty' freak out with a little retail therapy. Well, actually a little 'WHAM (work at home mom)Trade therapy!  Melissa of Taberoobies needed some diapers for her baby on the way and I needed trainers!  Mission accomplished! Aren't these the cutest? So far we are just wearing them around the house and for short errands. We aren't going to push it or stress like we did with Jaden which just prolonged the process. She goes after I change her but so far with the exception of the church nursery doesn't ask to go. She is wet in the morning and after naps so she is really not physically or emotionally ready yet.  Must admit her little bahonka is cuter than cute! So dinky compared to a diaper!

Mackenna got her first official haricut today! We thought we would give the brave instructor and student a run for their money at Ridgwater Salon and Day Spa. I had planned on bringing the booster chair with straps so that she would be immobile but I forgot it so she had to sit like a plain 'ol non-monkey almost 2yr old. I could NOT believe it! She actually sat there for about 5 minutes which was enough time to get most of it done and then Abby, the instructor, went in for the final 'once over'. Once they got her bangs they did have to hold her because she wanted to get out of the seat.

Houidini strikes again

Miss Mackenna a.k.a. Houdini struck again in the wee hours of the morning.  I came in to welcome her to a new day and was presented with a wet diaper...literally. I unzipped her crib tent and there she was, fully dressed in her Mackenna-proofing gear, holding out her wet diaper in her hands.  Mind you, she was still fully dressed in her zip-up footie jammies and sleep sack on backwards. Apparently she was able to take her diaper off with everything still on.  It's a good thing she's cute.

Theological ramblings of a 4 year old and then not so much.

While waiting for the macaroni to cook Jaden asked why we drank something today during church. After I explained communion to him (albeit really really simplified) he said with a very serious face, "Jesus gave me a drink. Jesus made our house. I farted in my pants."

I am still laughing.
